Here I will post a few pictures and tell a few stories about some of our adventures rebuilding these pioneer stores! We are working on a lot of different projects at the moment and I hope you enjoy following along!
We are currently trying to finish up the exterior of the Homestead House B&B before the cold weather creeps in! We just took out the 70's updates in the house (windows, lino, cupboards, closets) and put in a few 1920's windows that matched as best we could. I know - most people are throwing out these old windows! Luckily we found a few before they were destroyed.
Top window is just in (don't push on it James or it will be coming right back out lol) and trim has to go on to hold it in place, then my turn to paint. You can see where we had to fill in pieces of the siding when the new holes didn't match the old. Leaning against the house is the front windows that we removed...it was just about as big as the whole wall! Adding the original side window again and smaller front window still lets lots of natural light in the bedroom and also a nice view from every direction. The vent going up the front of the house is going to need some magic as it is VERY ugly and impossible to relocate. Time for some carving...re-invent it as a rock chimney.
