The volume brings together district and family histories, photographs, poems and recollections. Its contents range from post offices, roads and agriculture to churches, schools, clubs, sports and customs. The digitized volume is available through the University of Calgary’s Digital Collections.

Whiskey Gap in photographs

Printed pages 46–48, 54 and 62 include photographs of Whiskey Gap’s buildings and landscape, a portrait of Mrs. Bill Harper, the filming of Days of Heaven, and a railway scene captioned August 1978. These photographs are now part of the Whiskey Gap history page, with references to their source pages.

The book preserves the captions and recollections collected for publication in 1981. They give the photographs context and let readers follow the account back to the page where it appeared.

Continue the record

The years since 1981 are part of Del Bonita’s history too. Later photographs, family memories and accounts of community life can help connect the book with the place as it is remembered today.
